SHIFT LEAD JOB DESCRIPTION
The Shift Lead is a team member who has exemplified superior work ethic, customer service, and leadership on the staff. A shift leader is also someone that would typically be responsible for opening and closing the store, making bank deposits, and maintaining a leadership role in the absence of the manager. The shift lead has several additional responsibilities, but must still maintain full responsibility for all the functions of the Barista positions.
OVERALL FUNCTION
The shift leader, under the direction of the store manager and the assistant manager, ensures excellent customer service, supervises staff and makes business decisions in the absence of the manager, and maintains the store assets and facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to all requirements of the Barista positions, a Shift Lead is required to:

Provide leadership on the sales floor and in store at all times

Ensure product quality and adherence to standards

Welcome and help new co-workers and assist in the ongoing training of the staff

Complete appropriate levels of training passport

Coordinate and conduct excellent customer service through individual and team performance
-
Follow through on all requests from customers, co-workers, and managers
-
Respond to customer feedback efficiently
-
Open and close on time, following all necessary procedures
-
Ensure the accuracy, completion, and reconciliation of all financial transactions and operate Point-of-Sale terminals according to cash handling guidelines
-
Maintain the security of all store assets and facilities
-
Communicate essential information to management team in a timely manner
-
Motivate, develop, and guide co-workers
-
Initiate store projects and tasks to managers
-
Adhere to employee guidelines and standards in the Employee Handbook, and use them as resources for understanding performance expectations
SHIFT LEADERS MUST DEMONSTRATE:

A history of consistently good performance at Dazbog, or equivalent work experience, exceeding job expectations and acting as a role model for other employees

Ability to handle cash paperwork accurately

Good judgment, especially in the area of customer service and staff relations

Strong communication skills

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:

Opening duties and closing duties

Shift change, including counting drawers and managing reports

Entering credit card tips and cash tips

Personal development and staff development

Leading the team

Assisting with inventory and ordering when needed

Training new employees as needed
-
Ensuring waste log and all other shift logs are completed

Beginning of shift briefings

Leading by example and delegating daily tasks and responsibilities as necessary

Leading by example with the craft of coffee
